Kamenné more vo Vyhniach
Description of the attraction
The village of Vyhne is located in the Štiavnické hills in the Vyhnianska valley. Its visitors are attracted here by thermal water, admirable Vyhnian travertine and beautiful nature. A place that you should not miss during your vacation is the stone sea in Vyhnia, which is located at the foot of Kamenná hill. The stone sea in Vyhnia is the largest formation of its kind in the volcanic part of the Carpathians. It is also one of the oldest protected areas in Slovakia. Its rarity lies primarily in its geological value. It is made up of reddish and whitish rhyolite boulders and was created by volcanic activity. The view of the stone sea surrounded by forest leaves a strong impression on you and inspires respect for the admirable power of nature. The stone sea in Vyhnie rises above the village, so you can spot it from afar. You will have a view of it from the local swimming pool and from the cottage area. A trip to this place is a pleasant walk. It is part of the educational trail of A. Kmeť, during the journey you will be enriched with a lot of interesting information. The path to it is only 1 km long.
