Since 1964, the Žitnoostrov Museum has been housed in the historic building of the classicist Yellow Mansion in Dunajská Streda. Its collection consists of objects that map the ethnography, history and history of art in the region of Žitné ostrov. The museum currently owns 8,809 different exhibits. The Žitnoostrov Museum will present 11 thematic units in its permanent exhibition. You will learn interesting facts from archaeology, paleontology and history, there is also an ethnographic section. On the first floor of the museum, visitors can view the permanent exhibition, which draws on rich ethnographic material that documents the way of life of the people on Rye Island in the past. The museum presents ethnographic material from Rye Island in its permanent exhibition from 1972. Authentic peasant kitchens are on display , a peasant's room, a kitchen with an open chimney, spinning and weaving tools and gold panners' work tools. You will also see a room from Martoviece, various monuments from the life and activities of the guilds, period weapons, stamps and coins. The ground floor of the building has housed an archaeological and paleontological exhibition since 1990. In it, the Žitnoostrov Museum presents prehistoric archaeological and paleontological finds. A new pavilion was built near the mansion in 1986, which focuses on art exhibitions of various kinds. Lectures, conferences and creative workshops are also held in the pavilion.
