Zborovský hrad
Description of the attraction
The ruins of the Zborov castle, also called Makovica, are located on a hill near the village of Zborov, only about 5 km from Bardejov. Today, on the site of the once extensive medieval castle, you will see only walls, some of which only their foundations remain. Zborovský Castle was built in the first half of the 14th century. His task was to protect the Hungarian border and the trade route to Poland. During the 18th century, when its owners stopped using it, it gradually began to deteriorate. World War I brought further damage. Today, the Civic Association for the Rescue of Zborov Castle is trying to save the ruins of Zborov Castle. The ruins of Zborov Castle are accessible from the Bardejov spa. An educational trail with a length of 8 km will lead you to it, on which you can make 6 interesting stops at information boards. If you are looking for a shorter route, a 1 km long access directly from the village of Zborov will lead you to the place.
