Vlkolínec

Description of the attraction

Not far from Ružomberok is the famous jewel of Slovak folk architecture, Vlkolínec. The beginnings of this foothill settlement date back to the 14th century. Today, the village is administratively part of the city of Ružomberok. In 1993, Vlkolínec was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The village lives mainly on tourism, the number of permanent residents is currently low. Vlkolínec will transport you to a medieval village settlement. Its wooden architecture and well-preserved construction of log houses attract many tourists every year. The settlement is surrounded by strips of fields, pastures and forest. You can see the Farmhouse museum, the children's garden and the fire brigade exhibition. Interesting exhibitions are also held throughout the year. An educational trail and a marked cycle route lead from Ružomberok to the werewolves.
