Ruiny hradu Veľký Kamenec
Description of the attraction
Veľký Kamenec Castle was built as a guard castle in the second half of the 13th century. Today, only its ruins can be found on the hill in the center of the village with the same name. The ruins of Veľký Kamenec castle have been preserved to such an extent that it allows visitors to imagine which parts the castle complex consisted of. They were the upper and lower castle and the forecourt. A cistern in the courtyard was probably part of it in the Middle Ages. It is assumed that there was also a church under the castle. You can observe here the castle palace with the large southern tower-bastion, the western bastion and the polygonal northern bastion. The place will also delight lovers of beautiful views — from the castle hill you will be able to look around the picturesque village of Veľký Kamenec and its surroundings. Velky Kamenec Castle is easily accessible and visible directly from the village. Since the route is easy and relatively short, it is a popular place for a trip for all age groups.
