Oravská priehrada
Description of the attraction
The Orava water reservoir with an area of 35 km2 provides rich opportunities for recreation. It was built on the Orava River between 1941 and 1954 on the site of the now flooded villages of Slanica, Oravské Hámre, Osada and Ústi nad Oravou. Currently, only the hill of the former village of Slanica, forming Slanický ostrov, is above the surface. Oravská dam offers opportunities for swimming, yachting, surfing, boating, riding pedal boats and other water sports. On its shores you will find several recreation centers. The most famous are the harbor and beaches near Námestov, the campsite with a beach at Slanická Osada and the resort near Troch Studničky.
