Description of the attraction
One of the most beautiful hills located on the border of Slovakia and the Czech Republic is the Makyta hill in the western part of Javorník. During the hike to this place, you can admire the richness of the local nature and fully enjoy the peace and quiet. On the Makyta hill, fir-beech growth of a primeval nature prevails. Rare birds of prey and other bird species are found here. Its deep, dark forests are also the territory of our beasts, such as the lynx, wild cat and wolf. The peak of Makyta belongs to the first zone of the Kysuce Protected Area and the Beskydy Protected Area with the highest level of protection. On the top there is a wooden shelter where you can relax and enjoy the atmosphere of this wonderful place. You can also sign up for the peak book. Views of the surroundings are limited. In the past, you could admire the view of the surroundings from the lookout tower, but it has been destroyed. You can go to the Makyta hill on several hiking trails from the Slovak and Czech sides. Makyta is also a crossroads of hiking trails and the fourth stop of the educational trail Javorníky - west. The ascent is quite difficult, you will have to overcome an elevation of more than 400 m. You can start from the villages of Lazy pod Makytou or Lysá pod Makytou. The shortest route leads from the settlement of Tisové, from where it is approximately 4 km. You can also reach the top by following the red sign from Papajské sedlo and Radošov sedlo.
