Description of the attraction

Between the villages of Matejovce nad Hornádom and Chrasť nad Hornádom you will find a real fairytale ice kingdom during the harsh winter months. The proximity of the Hornád River, the constantly flowing water and the freezing weather together create one of the most beautiful icefalls in Slovakia — the Chrastianska šiklává skala icefall. The Chrastianska siklavá skala icefall falls from a massive limestone rock that is up to 40 meters high and about 380 meters wide. In the summer, the water here creates a not very plentiful, but extensive waterfall with a height of approximately 14 meters. If you want to see the beautiful Chrastianska siklavá skala icefall with your own eyes, it is easily accessible from Matejoviece nad Hornádom. Even less fit tourists can get here from the village in less than half an hour. Signposts and tourist signs will help you find your way along the route. If you feel like a longer winter hike, you can stop by the icefall on your way to Slovak Paradise.
