The Dobšinsk ice cave is rightly ranked among the most important ice caves in the world. In 2000, it was therefore included in the list of world natural heritage. In the cave's underground you can admire ice stalagmites and stalactites, icefalls and floor ice with a thickness of up to 25 meters. The beauty with which Dobšinská ice cave attracts many tourists every year is due to the ideal conditions for creating ice decorations. They are best in the spring, when the surface waters pass underground through the fissures and freeze in the cave in the form of various formations. Due to the influence of sublimation, a coating of innovate is also created in places. Thanks to it, the underground spaces acquire a unique charm. You can get to the cave from the settlement Dobšinská ice cave. At the exit, a path with a length of approximately 1 km awaits you. You can make the ascent to the cave with a height difference of 130 m more pleasant by reading the signs on the educational trail. The journey will take about 25 minutes.
