Description of the attraction

The Low Tatras attract many Slovak and foreign tourists with their beauty. During your visit, you can admire not only the beautiful nature. Many attractions and entertainment options are available to visitors. The most famous hill of the Low Tatras is Chopok, which is the third highest peak with an altitude of 2,024 meters. The ridge of Chopka stands out between Dereš and Konské Hill. From Chopek you will have a view of the mountains and valleys of Slovakia. You will be able to admire Chočské vrchy, Western and High Tatras and the water area of Liptovská Mary. The view towards the north is enhanced by the depth of the Tatra basin. At Chopok, you will also be interested in the unmissable high-rise building of the television and meteorological station. A cable car runs to Chopok from the Demänovská dolina, and you can also choose several marked hiking trails. If you go on foot, you might be lucky enough to meet its shy inhabitants — chamois. When visiting this mountain, do not underestimate appropriate preparation. In the same way as in the High Tatras, in the Low Tatras it is also necessary to think about appropriate clothing and footwear. The weather in the mountains can change quickly, and despite the pleasant warmth in the valley, cold weather can catch you in Chopok. You will be able to enjoy refreshments at the top, where the Kamenná chata pod Chopok is located. The daily menu offers several tasty dishes. When you eat them, you will be able to get new energy for the next trip. Chopok is a popular place even in winter, when it turns into a ski paradise and an ideal place for ski mountaineering. Climatic conditions at this altitude make it possible to enjoy skiing until spring.
