Description of the attraction
The underground of the Horehron Basin is full of evidence of the immense power and beauty of nature. If you like to get to know them, the Bystrian Cave is also worth your attention. You can combine its visit with a vacation in the well-known tourist centers of Tále and Mýto pod Ďumbierom. The Bystrian Cave is located on the southern side of the Low Tatras near the village of Bystrá. The underground spaces with a length of more than 3 km are made up of two parts: Old and New cave. The cave has an abyssal character. Its older part has been known to local residents since time immemorial, its exploration began in 1923. During it, cavers explored the Peklo abyss in particular. Through it, they reached the New Cave in 1926. The tour route of the cave is 580 m long, and it is not necessary to overcome almost any elevation. It is therefore also accessible to visitors with reduced mobility. The sightseeing circuit lasts 45 minutes. The cave attracts tourists with a view of three chasms with a depth of approximately 20 meters. You can also admire the various drip decorations here. The most beautiful hall is the Klenotnica. You can reach the entrance after a short walk from the parking lot with a minimal elevation gain. The Bystrian cave is also used for medical purposes, namely speleotherapy.
