Description of the attraction
The Turkish gallery is housed in a beautiful, architecturally interesting historical building. It is the County House, probably built in the 17th century as a chamber, seat of justice, county archive and treasury. It also served for the representative purposes of the townspeople of Turčianske Sväté Martin. Today, the County House is part of the modern center of the city of Martin. You can find it on Daxnerova street, which is located in the pedestrian zone. The Turkish Gallery is a regional museum-type gallery. Its building has more than 700 m2 of exhibition and presentation areas, which are located on the ground floor and both floors of the wings. In the exhibition spaces, you will not only be interested in the exhibits themselves, you can also admire the vaults and double-sided views. In the county house, you can view works of art by artists and other artists who are in some way connected to the Turiec region or the city of Martin itself. Turčianska gallery also offers space to established Slovak and foreign artists, you will also find works of the youngest generation here. The permanent exhibition is entitled Slovak Modern Art of the 20th Century in Turkey. In addition to it, you can view various time-limited exhibitions here.
