Tlstá - 1373 m n. m.
Description of the attraction
Among the most visited tourist destinations in the Veľká Fatra mountain range is the Tlstá hill. Its massive, white rock walls enticingly attract visitors from afar. Also due to their beauty, Tlstá, together with Mount Ostrá, ranks among the favorite places of visitors to this mountain range. If you decide to climb Mount Tlstá, expect in advance that a relatively long and strenuous ascent awaits you. The top is wide and craggy, but you will be rewarded for your effort by the beauty of the local landscape. The slopes along which the ascent route leads are steep, the grassland gradually turns into high rock terraces and massive gates. There are ideal conditions for the formation of caves, of which there are several here. Vrch Tlstá can also boast of one of the largest caves of Veľká Fatra — Mažarná, which, however, is not open to the public. You will only be able to see into its magnificent entrance portal. At the top of the Tlstá hill there is a vast steep meadow where you can rest for a while and gain strength for the descent. From the top there is also a beautiful view of the whole of Turiec. The starting point of the ascent to Tlstá hill is the village of Blatnica (about 4 km). From there, your steps will lead towards the Gaderská and Vápenná valleys. After conquering the summit, you can continue the hike on the green path through Ľubenná 1,414 m above sea level, Bágľov kopec 1,280 m above sea level and then to Zadná Ostrú.
