Description of the attraction

The village of Hlboké is associated with an important figure in our history — Jozef Miloslav Hurban. His mound, designed in 1948 by the architect Dušan Jurkovič, is located here. Jozef Miloslav Hurban's mound is 12 meters high and was made of Spiš travertine. Visitors here are reminded of a Slovak novelist, poet, cultural, political and religious columnist and politician. Hurban's remains, which were exhumed from the old grave, are also stored in the grave near the mound. This sacred place welcomes many guests from Slovakia and abroad every year. If you want to learn more about this important figure of the national revival of the 19th century, you can also visit the local rectory and museum. Here you will find permanent exhibitions that will bring you closer to his life and work.
