Synagóga v Lučenci
Description of the attraction
Among the most important historical buildings in Lučenec is also the building of the Neolog Synagogue. The synagogue in Lučenec was built in the years 1924-1925 in the art nouveau style and is the work of the Hungarian architect Leopold Baumhorn. It is interesting that it is one of four identical synagogues in the world. Others are located in Amsterdam, Brussels and Tel Aviv. The synagogue in Lučenec served its purpose until 1944. In the following years it was used as a warehouse and fell into disrepair for many years. In 2014-2015, it was finally renovated, and today it is also open to the public. When you visit this place, you can admire the beautifully decorated interior. During the tour, you will be accompanied by an expert explanation by trained lecturers. You will also be able to admire the permanent exhibition of the local Jewish cultural heritage. The synagogue in Lučenec has aesthetically arranged surroundings. During warm days, you can sit here on the benches. The synagogue building is used by the city for various cultural and social events. Ceremonies and weddings are also held here. It is available to those interested throughout the year during its opening hours.
