Cukrová homola
Description of the attraction
Among the pearls of the Slovak Karst is the popular Zádielska valley, which is dominated by the massive rock tower Cukrová Homoľa. This natural rock obelisk stands in the middle of the valley and is its symbol. Its height is 105 meters, various types of mountain plants grow at its foot. At higher altitudes, more dry-loving and heat-loving species thrive on its walls. Cucrová Homoľa is a popular place to which not only tourists but also rock climbers go. Free climbing is allowed on it. Its shape predestined it to become the best climbing terrain in the Zádiel area, even in the whole of Slovakia. It was named after its visible resemblance to a sugar cube. Sugar was traditionally packaged and sold in this form until the end of the 19th century. The Sugar Loaf, just like the famous rock tower, had the shape of a truncated rotating cone. The trip to the Sugar Loaf is best started in the village of Zádiel, from where the red hiking trail will take you to the place. The journey should take approximately 0:25 h. If you walk back at a faster pace, it will only take 0:15 h.
