Sučianska skala
Description of the attraction
Sučianska skala is a monumental rock formation that rises above the village of Sučany near Martin. This place is sought after by climbers, but it also has a lot to offer tourists. Due to its strategic location, a fortified fortress was built on the rock in the past. It served as a trade center, transit and market station. The castle is also often associated with the Sučian Castle, which no longer exists. The rock cliff at the top also offers a smaller wooden seating area. There is a small, inaccessible cave in the rock, you can also observe other interesting openings and crevices. From the top places you can enjoy wonderful views of the immediate surroundings of the formation and the Veľká and Malá Fatra mountains. If you are interested in Sučianska skala, you can't get to it via the official hiking trail. However, access to it is easy, you will certainly not get lost on the way. You can choose the southern part of the village of Sučany as a starting point.
