Have you already visited the Slovak Astronomical Clock? You can find it in the village of Stará Bystrica. This first astronomical clock in Slovakia is also our largest wooden sculpture. The Slovak astronomical clock strikes every full hour from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Visitors can see the promenade with seven Slovak saints. This unique work can also boast that it is the only astronomical clock in the world that shows the true solar time. The composition of the astronomical clock depicts the Madonna, the Seven-splendid Virgin Mary, who is the patron saint of Slovakia. In its niches you can admire six bronze sculptures of important Slovak personalities. They are Princess Pribina, King Svätopluk, Anton Bernolák, Ľudovít Štúr, Andrej Hlinka and Milan Rastislav Štefánik. The heart of the astronomical clock, which is made up of astronomical clocks, is also interesting. an astrolabe that shows data such as solar time, date, position and phases of the moon and the position of the sun in the zodiac sign. If you want to plan a visit, you can also come and admire the Slovak Astronomical Clock in the evening. During the evening hours, it lights up and in the dark, its delicate and refined technique and beauty stand out even more. If you are an art lover, don't miss the small sales gallery located under the observatory. It exhibits works by both professional and non-professional artists.
