Rímske lapidárium
Description of the attraction
The Roman lapidary has traditionally been very popular with visitors. This interesting exposition of the Danube Museum is installed in the southern part of the bastion, which is a monument-restored object of the fortification system in Komárno. The Roman lapidary is a place where you can view beautiful Roman stone sculpture monuments. The exhibition includes tombstones and their fragments, dedication plaques, altar stones, sarcophagi and copies. The exhibits come from the Roman border fortifications of Brigetio and Celemantia, which were located near Komárno in the past. Their age dates back to the 2nd-4th centuries. nl Among the most interesting exhibits that the Roman lapidary will present to you is the torso of the relief with the mythological motif Phaedra's love for Hyppolitus. No less precious are the altar dedicated to Jupiter, the portrait of Emperor Commodus and the inscription of Roman soldiers from 179/180 on a rock in Trenčín.
