Description of the attraction
The first and oldest cabin in the High Tatras is Rainer's cabin, built in 1863 by Ján Juraj Rainer. Rainerka, also called the cozy house, is located in Starolesnianská połana at the mouth of Studeny dolín. Rainer's cottage was renovated in 1998, when it was opened by the current tenant Peter Petras. Tourists can buy refreshments in the buffet here, but it is not possible to stay here. In the hut there is an exhibition that will introduce you to the history and present of mountain carriers. You will also find a collection of old climbing equipment and old skis. The cottage is open all year round. Various events take place here, the most famous being the construction of a snow nativity scene on the Three Kings and porter races. Rainer's cottage is easily accessible from Hrebienk, you can also get here from Zamkovského cottage. The hiking tour is easy, it will also suit families with children. Nearby you can visit the charming waterfalls of Studený potok.
