Pútnické miesto Živčáková
Description of the attraction
The pilgrimage site Živčáková is located on the hill of the same name, which is part of the Turzovská vrchovina near the village of Korňa. In the past, a picture of the Virgin Mary was hung on a tree in the forest, to which local residents passing by used to go to pray. In 1958, Hájnik Matúš Lašút is said to have also had a vision of the Virgin Mary of Lourdes here. Since then, people have been coming here to pray alone, but also in groups. At the same time, they took water from a nearby spring, believing that it has healing properties. The pilgrimage site Živčáková is built on a forest clearing in an old spruce forest. Holy masses are celebrated in the chapel throughout the year. Pilgrimages are held to Živčáková mountain in spring and autumn. You can get here by following several paths from Turzovka, Kelčov, Korna or Vysoka. The center is the chapel of the Virgin Mary. A rarity that deserves your attention is the Detvian cross, which was dedicated to the pilgrimage site by the inhabitants of the village.
