Pálffyovský kaštieľ

Description of the attraction

The Pálfy manor in Malacky was built as the seat of the family at the initiative of Count Pavel IV. Pálffy in the first half of the 17th century. The mansion building was rebuilt several times during its history. It acquired its current form during the classicist reconstruction in 1807 - 1808. The Pálfyovský manor house in Malacky attracts attention not only with the building itself and its interior. It also includes a vast English park. In the courtyard of the manor there is a restored well with the coat of arms of the Pálffys — a deer. In the castle park you can walk in the shade of many old trees. Only one of the original numerous linden avenues has been preserved. To the south of the manor there is a reconstructed fountain and the cave of the Virgin Mary (Grotto). In the past, the park also housed a riding stable building, greenhouses, and the gardener's and porter's houses. It is believed that there is a complex of secret escape passages under the park that lead from the mansion in several directions. If necessary, they were to be used to escape to Rohožník, the Black Monastery and the Little Manor. The Pálfyovský mansion in Malacky has an interesting interior. It was originally decorated with many hunting trophies, an extensive collection of weapons and rare furniture. The chapel of St. was located in the corner of the eastern and northern wings of the castle. cross. Today you can see the Pálffy room with period furniture in the renovated part of the mansion. Part of the tour is also an exhibition of photos documenting the reconstruction of the building. The exhibition spaces are used for organizing art and professional exhibitions and lectures.
