Veľká Fatra offers its visitors the wealth of nature, here you can admire various rock fissures, smaller and larger caves. The most famous of them is the Mažarná cave, which you will come across on a hike to Tlstá hill. The Mažarná cave is located in the first third of the ascent. Tourists like to stop here for a pleasant break in the climb. The Mažarná fissure cave is 130 meters long, inside you can admire the beautiful weathered drip decoration. The bottom consists of sinter lakes and impenetrable fissures. Mažarná Cave is freely accessible throughout the year. If you want to admire its full beauty, we recommend you to visit it especially during winter. During this period, it also becomes the home of bats. You can reach the cave after a 4 km long marked route from the village of Blatnica. The route leads along an asphalt road, which later turns into a forest road. The trip can also be combined with a visit to the ruins of Blatnica Castle.
