Malacká synagóga
Description of the attraction
We have several rare synagogues in Slovakia. Many of them are still in good condition and have a high architectural value. That is why they are entered in the Central List of Cultural Monuments of the Slovak Republic. Among the important buildings of this kind is the Malacca Synagogue. The Malacca Synagogue was built in the Moorish style. The building has preserved its rich ornamental stucco. Also intact is the central element — the ark and the niche for storing the Torah scrolls. Located in the center of the city, it can boast of a rich history and immense architectural value. It was for this reason that the Malacca Synagogue was included in the Slovak Route of Jewish Cultural Heritage project. In the 1950s, the Jewish Religious Community sold the synagogue to the state, so today it is used for cultural and social purposes. The interior is accessible with a guide. If you want to go on a tour, you need to book it at least a day in advance.
