Description of the attraction

The Kyseľ gorge, accessible from the starting point Kláštorisko in Slovak Paradise, is a place that offers challenging hiking. However, its priceless beauty will excite you even more. In 1976, the Kyseľ gorge was hit by a large-scale fire. Since then, only its upper part, called the gorge to the Giant Waterfall, has been accessible to tourists. You could also view the Malý and Veľký Kyseľ branches. After 40 long years, the complete tourist route has finally been reconstructed and nowadays you can walk through the entire gorge. When planning the hike, keep in mind that the lower part of the gorge from the mouth of the gorge at Biely Potok to the bridge over the Giant Waterfall is accessible via ferrata. It is equipped with safety ropes and iron risers. In order to go down it, your equipment must include a via ferrata belay set with a fall absorber, a helmet and sturdy non-slip shoes. The Kyseľ Gorge in the Slovak Paradise will delight you with its beautiful nature, wild waterfalls and massive rock formations. Crossing the gorge is only possible in one direction, from bottom to top. You can visit it individually, less experienced tourists are recommended to go with a guide. Currently, the Kyseľ Gorge in Slovak Paradise is included among the most strictly protected areas of the national park. The via ferrata can only be used from June 15 to October 31. The former replacement route, which served until its restoration, is open all year round.
