Hrad Krásna Hôrka - v rekonštrukcii
Description of the attraction
Krásna Hôrka Castle is located in the picturesque Gemer region in the very heart of Slovakia. It has been closed since March 10, 2012 due to reconstruction work. This cultural-historical monument stands on a lonely, easily visible hill above the village of Krásnohorské Podhradie. Krásna Hôrka Castle was built in the 14th century. The first written mention of it dates back to 1333. The history of the castle is mainly connected with the Bebek family, who acquired it on the basis of a donation deed from Bel IV. In the 16th century, the castle underwent reconstruction and modernization. After the Bebek family, the Andrássy family became its owners. They enriched the Krásna Hôrka castle with architectural elements that were in the style of late Renaissance noble residences. Since 1961, this castle has been a national cultural monument. In its interior, there is a museum with rare historical furniture. The tour of Krásna Hôrka castle starts in its lower part. The well-preserved castle kitchen, which is decorated with an interesting painting of the God's eye, will attract the attention of visitors. From the lower castle, you go to the upper one, from there to the northwest bastion. The tour continues in objects from the time of the Bebeks, in the Gothic tower and rooms where you can see how Countess Františka lived. The route ends in the chapel where the body of Žofia Seréda is displayed. You can reach the Krásna Hôrka castle after a 3 km long road from Krásnohorské Podhradie. You can go there by car or on foot. You will be able to enjoy the beautiful surroundings on a walk. If you like Gemeri, you can also visit many other historical attractions and tourist sites.
