Kaštieľ Imre Madácha
Description of the attraction
The village of Dolná Strehová is the place where the writer I. Madách lived and worked in the past. Imre Madách's mansion is located in a beautiful, landscaped area. This rococo-classical building is part of the heritage of the Hungarians and the whole of Europe. In the premises of the mansion you can see the exhibition of the writer and playwright Imre Madách, which is managed by the Museum of Hungarian Culture in Slovakia. The interior is furnished with original furniture and personal items that document his life and work. The exhibition also offers interesting information about other writers of the region. The Madách manor house in Dolná Strehová also houses a memorial exhibition that presents life in the manor premises in the 19th century. In its second part, entitled The Tragedy of Man, it highlights rare ideas collected from 15 paintings of this important work by Madách. The basement of the mansion also deserves your attention. There is a visitor center with a museum-pedagogical animator in intimate vaulted rooms. There is also a small stage and a conference room. After touring the interior, we recommend spending a few moments in the park. During the walk, you will also find the tomb of the writer I. Madách, on which there is a statue called The Soul of Man Longing for Heaven.
