Description of the attraction

You can find the Forestry and Timber Museum in Zvolen in the historic premises of the town houses, which are our national cultural monument. In the period up to 1992, the museum focused mainly on the local history issues of the local region. After it acquired objects from the forestry and woodworking collection from the Museum in St. Anton to its collection fund, it refocused on forestry and woodworking throughout Slovakia. In 2008, the Forestry and Woodworking Museum in Zvolen was incorporated into the state enterprise LESY of the Slovak Republic. Historical objects in his possession are from the fields of forestry, woodworking, history, archaeology, mycology, numismatics and ethnography. There are more than 51,000 of them in total. The Forestry and Timber Museum in Zvolen offers a tour of four permanent exhibitions: - Family of Ostrolúcka and Ľudovít Štúr — learn about the past of one of the oldest and most influential noble families of the Zvolen See. There is no lack of information about the relationship of Ľudovít Štúr to this family. - Wood always alive — will introduce you to traditional woodcrafts and woodworking techniques that were used in our territory. - Voice of the forest — the exhibition is dedicated to the topic of forests and forestry in Slovakia. - Forestry open-air museum - this extended exhibition is located in Čierny Balog in Vydrovská dolina. In addition to permanent exhibitions, the Forestry and Timber Museum in Zvolenia also organizes other exhibitions and various competitions for pupils and students.
