The highest peak of the Low Tatras, Ďumbier, with an altitude of 2,043 m, is one of the peaks that can be climbed even in winter. This place is popular among tourists not only because of the unforgettable ascent. From its top you can see a perfect circular view. The attraction of this place is not only its height and the beauty of the view. During the ascent, you can also come across rare chamois, marmots and admire the beauty of the alpine flora. If the weather is kind to you, from the top of Ďumbiera you will have half of Slovakia in the palm of your hand. You will be able to admire the peaks and peaks of Roháč, the High Tatras with Kriváň and Gerlachovský štít. You will also have an unforgettable view of the peaks of the Low Tatras: Chabenec, Chopok and Kráľova hoľa. The ascent to Ďumbier is one of the moderately demanding hikes, but this only applies in good weather. Adverse conditions can make it much more difficult for you. If you need refreshments or shelter from the rain on the way, you can do so in the alpine huts. There are several ascent routes to Ďumbier. From the south, it is a hiking trail with a yellow sign, starting in Mýt pod Ďumbierom. The trail takes you through varied terrain and is approximately 9 km long. It is necessary to be quite careful when climbing, the ascending hiking trail is sometimes paved with rocks. More physically fit tourists can choose Liptovský Ján as a starting point. A wonderful passage through the long Jánská dolina awaits them. You can also go to Ďumbier+ from Čertovice.
