Hrad Dobrá Voda

Description of the attraction

Dobrá Voda Castle is located in the central part of the Small Carpathians above the village of Dobrá Voda (Trnava district). Today, only ruins remind of the past glory of this monumental Gothic building. Dobrá Voda Castle was built on the site of an older castle in the 13th century. Its location on a rocky outcrop in mountainous terrain on one of the roads through the Little Carpathian ridge predestined it to the role of a guard castle. It got its name thanks to the numerous water sources in its vicinity. During the uprising of Francis II. Rákóczi (1703), Dobrá Voda castle was significantly damaged. Later, it was repaired again, but after a fire in the 18th century, it could not be restored. The ruins of Dobrá Voda castle, like other ruins in the Lesser Carpathians, are gradually falling apart. If you decide to visit Dobrá Voda Castle, you will be able to admire the architectural features of the building that are still visible today. The remains of a higher square tower and a smaller tower have been preserved. Here you will also find the remains of various farm buildings. The ruins of Dobrá Voda castle are easily accessible from the village of the same name. You can start the journey from the church, where you can park. By car, you can also drive up to the cemetery on a narrow asphalt road. There is also a smaller parking lot here. The road to Dobrá Voda Castle leads through the cemetery following a red sign. The ascent will take approximately 20 minutes.
