In the middle of the 16th century, it also became the residence of the Hungarian kings for a while. The last monarch during whose lifetime the castle flourished was Mária Terézia. During the fifties of the 20th century, its modern period began to be written. Archaeological research was started, investments were also made in saving the castle ruins. In the following decades, Bratislava Castle underwent extensive reconstruction. Today, visitors to the capital can admire the perfect beauty of its former glory.
