Description of the attraction

In the picturesque surroundings of Krásnohorské Podhradie, there is an extremely valuable monument of art nouveau architectural and sculptural art — the Mausoleum of the Andrássy family. This family crypt was built according to the design of Munich artists in 1904 by the last male descendant of the Andrássy family — Dionýz. He made it for his wife Franciska and for himself. The Andrássy mausoleum is made of multi-colored marble, which was brought from several places in the world for this purpose. The place for its construction was chosen in the middle of the paved courtyard, which is surrounded by a stone wall and a park with an area of 7 hectares. The interior of the crypt is lavishly decorated. Inside are two sarcophagi made of white Carrara marble. In the right sarcophagus are the remains of Františka and in the left Dionysus. The Mausoleum of the Andrássy family is an extended exposition that belongs to the management of the Slovak National Museum — the Betliar Museum, located in the Betliar mansion. Together with the garden and the guardhouse with the treasury, they form a common complex. It is also accessible by car. When visiting, you can park in the parking lot next to the cash desk. If you like learning about history, you can create a full-day program by combining it with a tour of the Betliar Manor. 62
