Veľký kaštieľ v Budimíre
Description of the attraction
Eastern Slovakia has a lot to offer every tourist with a passion for history. Among the places that you should not miss here is the historical landmark and symbol of the East Slovak village of Budimír — a classicist-Teresian mansion built in the second third of the 18th century. The manor house in Budimír served as a manor residence of the Ujházy family, in the later period his manor house served as a local school. The manor house in Budimír is now operated by the Slovak Technical Museum, which still has exhibits here. An attraction for tourists is the Museum of Historical Clocks, whose permanent exhibition was created in cooperation with the East Slovak Museum in Košice. Here you can view the furnished period interior, which is a representation of residential culture with historical furniture, paintings and home accessories. In the exhibition spaces of the manor house, various exhibitions focusing on history, art, history of technology, and even collecting alternate. The manor house is also the venue for museum-oriented events. The neighborhood in which the manor house is located in Budimír is definitely worth mentioning. It is surrounded by a French park, in which you can walk to your heart's content and enjoy the atmosphere of a noble residence. On the walk, you can admire three large-scale sculptures called the Slovak Court, the Statue of a Reader and Someone Sitting in a Bass. The sculptures belong to the cycle Slovak carnivals by the sculptor Ladislav Gajdoš.
