Description of the attraction

If you are an admirer of historical monuments, you should not miss the Pustý church in the village of Veľká Čalomija. This church ranks among the oldest religious buildings in our territory. The deserted church in the village of Veľká Čalomija was built in the first half of the 13th century and was later rebuilt several times. Only the remains of the masonry of the apse and the northern wall of the nave have been preserved from its earliest history. In the past, archaeological research was also carried out at this place, which uncovered a grave dating from around the 12th century. The rarest find is a bronze aquamanilla. It is a container in the shape of a horse with a rider, which was used by priests to wash their hands during the liturgy. Until now, only the remains of the Deserted Church have been preserved. However, thanks to their historical value, they attract many researchers. This place is also sought after by tourists and future newlyweds. The church area has undergone extensive renovation, the surrounding nature completes the captivating atmosphere. The deserted church is easily accessible, a 200 m long path marked with information boards will lead you to it.
